How Email Attachments Work in CloudChat

Last updated on Sep 02, 2026

1. How do attachments appear to the client?

When an agent sends an email with attached files, each attachment will appear in the message body for the end client. The format is always the same:

  • The file name appears in bold.

  • Next to it, the word “Download” appears as a hyperlink. Just click to download the file.

2. Is the file stored in CloudChat?

Yes. The attachment remains available in the conversation exactly as sent by the client. You can download it whenever needed.

3. Is there a size or file type limit?

CloudChat accepts the same types and sizes allowed by your email provider. If the email arrives normally, the attachment will be displayed in CloudChat.

4. How does the client download it?

Simply click Download next to the file name. The file will be downloaded directly to the client's device.

5. Can I view the attachment within CloudChat?

Inline viewing (preview without downloading the file) depends on the file type. Images usually display with a preview; files like PDF, DOC, or ZIP need to be downloaded.

6. What if the attachment doesn’t appear?

Check if:

  • The original email actually contained the file;

  • The provider didn't block sending by type or size;

  • The conversation loaded correctly.
    If issues persist, contact support.
