How to edit an existing Controlled Flow: adding or changing a block

Last updated on Aug 19, 2026

When to use

  • You already have a published Controlled Flow and want to add a new step or change an existing block
  • You want to edit the flow without starting from scratch

Step by step

  1. Open the Controlled Flows workspace and select the flow you want to edit.
  2. Confirm you are in Edit Mode — the block sidebar and the Publish button are visible. If "READ ONLY" appears, someone else is editing the flow; wait until it is released.
  3. Drag the block you want from the sidebar to the right point in the flow (message, input, condition, HTTP request, and so on).
  4. Connect the new block: link the previous block's output to its input, and its output to the next one — so the path doesn't break.
  5. Configure the block according to its type (text, variable, condition, integration...).
  6. Make sure the path ends in a ClaudIA card.
  7. Test the flow in the Playground before publishing.
  8. Click Publish for the change to go live.

Publish before you leave. Unpublished changes are discarded after a few minutes of inactivity.

Notes
